Sheerness is often overlooked, but there's more here than first meets the eye. Here's a local's take on what to see and do.
Blue Town Heritage Centre
Blue Town is the oldest part of Sheerness, built beside the naval dockyard. The Blue Town Heritage Centre tells the story of the area and is home to the Criterion, a restored Victorian music hall that hosts shows and events.
The seafront and Beachfields
The promenade runs along the Thames Estuary, with views out to the shipping lanes. Beachfields has open space and is a good spot for families.
Barton's Point Coastal Park
Barton's Point, on the eastern side of Sheerness, has a lake and open green space and is popular for walks and family days out.
The town centre
The High Street and the Broadway are home to shops, cafés and the cast-iron Clock Tower, the town's best-known landmark.
