Handing your child over to a driver is a big step. Here's what's worth knowing.

Licensing

Private hire drivers, vehicles and operators in Swale are licensed by Swale Borough Council. Drivers must pass checks, including an enhanced criminal record check. See how to check your taxi is licensed.

Seats and seatbelts

Younger children are safest in a suitable child seat or booster. Tell us your child's age when you book, and whether you'll provide a seat. Older children must wear a seatbelt.

Handovers

  • Agree exactly where your child is dropped off and collected
  • Tell us who's allowed to meet them at home
  • Make sure the school knows your child travels by taxi

Keeping in touch

  • Give us a mobile number we can always reach
  • Tell us straight away about changes to the timetable
  • Talk to your child about what to do if the car is late
