It takes a few seconds to check your taxi is licensed, and it's worth doing every time.
Three quick checks
- The licence plate: licensed vehicles display a council licence plate or sticker, usually on the back of the car
- The driver's badge: licensed drivers carry an ID badge issued by the council
- Your booking: the driver should know your name and destination; don't tell them, let them tell you
If something isn't right
Don't get in. Call the firm you booked with to check. If you're worried, move somewhere safe and well lit.
