Sittingbourne is well placed for the London airports, just off the A249 with the M2 and M20 close by. But they're not all equally easy. Here's how they compare.
Distances and typical times
| Airport | Distance | Typical time | Dartford Crossing |
|---|---|---|---|
| London City | 43 miles | 50 – 1 hr 10 | No |
| London Gatwick | 50 miles | 1 hr – 1 hr 20 | No |
| London Southend | 55 miles | 1 hr 5 – 1 hr 25 | Yes |
| London Stansted | 69 miles | 1 hr 10 – 1 hr 40 | Yes |
| London Heathrow | 76 miles | 1 hr 25 – 1 hr 50 | No |
| London Luton | 82 miles | 1 hr 30 – 2 hr | Yes |
The easiest: London City and Gatwick
Both are south of the Thames from here, so there's no river crossing to hold you up. London City is quickest by distance; Gatwick has the widest range of holiday flights.
Heathrow for long-haul
Further away, but reached without a river crossing, via the M20, M26 and M25. Allow extra time on weekday mornings.
North of the Thames: Stansted, Luton, Southend
All three cross at Dartford. On a clear run they're fine; at busy times the crossing is the biggest variable in your journey.
